Soft tissue complications of distal radius fractures.

چکیده
Distal radius fractures account for approximately 15% of all fractures in adults. Care of these fractures is associated with a myriad of complications. This review focuses on the soft tissue complications encountered during the management of distal radius fractures, including tendon injury, nerve dysfunction, vascular compromise, skin problems, compartment syndrome, complex regional pain syndrome, and ligament dysfunction. There are many vital soft tissue structures in close proximity to the osseous anatomy around the wrist, and the complications associated with the soft tissues may be more problematic than the bone injury itself.

Short-term Results of Using Injectable Bone Cement Technique in the Treatment of Unstable Distal Radius Fractures
Background & Aims: Treatment of osteoporotic distal radius fracture with metaphyseal defect is often complicated by secondary displacement, because of posterior cortex comminution. The aim of this study was to investigate functional outcomes and advantages of injection of bone cement in stabilizing and maintaining this fracture reduction. Methods: This prospective study was performed on 20 ...
متن کاملComparison of Outcomes and Complications of 1- and 4- week Cast Immobilization after Distal Radius Surgery
Background & Aims: Metaphysical distal radius fractures are common fractures account for almost half of the fractures in Orthopaedic Emergencies. According to different studies, 1-6 weeks cast immobilization after distal radius surgery has been recommended. The aim of this study was to compare outcomes and complications of short-term and long-term immobilization treatment methods. Methods: In a...
متن کاملComplications and Plate Removal Surgeries after Performing Volar Plating of Unstable Distal Radius Fractures
Complications have often been reported in the literature after distal radius fractures treated conservatively or operatively [1-3]. Previously, the main indication for volar plating was a volar Barton or Smith fracture, but now volar locking plates are the most commonly used treatment for unstable distal radius fractures and during the last decade this method has become increasingly popular [4]...
متن کاملDorsal nail plate fixation of distal radius fractures.
Intramedullary fixation of distal radius fractures is an emerging concept. The Dorsal Nail Plate is a new device that links a specifically designed stem to a small distal plate; bone fixation is supported by fixed-angle screws. The device is inserted dorsally using a minimally invasive technique ; its indications are unstable dorsally displaced extra-articular or simple articular distal radius ...
متن کاملPercutaneous pinning versus pin-in-plaster for treatment of distal radius fractures
Background: Distal radius fractures constitute 17% of all fractures and 75% of forearm fractures in adults. Due to the vital role of the hands in a wide range of daily tasks, quick recovery and fewer complications for the patients are important. The purpose of this study was to compare the two common treatments of distal radius fractures namely, percutaneous pinning and pin-in-plaster. Methods...
